Today UP Home staff invited all centenarians on campus to gather for picture and small recognition. A centenarian is someone who is 100 years of age (or older!) and that is something to celebrate.
Currently, UPH is home to 7 centenarians including 101-year-old, independent living resident Marion Turnipseed. Marion is well known around the UP Home campus, not only for living independently at age 101, but more so for his service in WWII. He has done several presentations on campus and around the community detailing his time in the US Air Force during which he completed 35 missions as a flight engineer and top turret gunner on a B-24 Liberator.
The Home’s oldest resident is Thelma Wagner who has reached the remarkable age of 104. Thelma volunteered at the UP Home before moving on to campus in 1982 where she continued her volunteer service well into her 90s.
Along with Marion & Thelma, UPH recognized Esther Bordwell, Esther Hartman, Marjorie Noble, Pat Minneman and Stella Rich as centenarians living on campus.
