Washington, IA (August 30, 2016) – The United Presbyterian Home took advantage of the nice weather this week by breaking ground a couple weeks early due to an opening in DeLong Construction’s schedule to start the excavation and preparation of the site. The Ceremonial Groundbreaking is set for Wednesday, September 14th at 9:30 a.m.
“When the contractor called and said we could start two weeks before the groundbreaking we were very excited, we have spent countless hours of planning and it’s great to see the project start.” Said Erin Drahota, COO/Administrator at the UP Home. “The Ceremonial Groundbreaking will be a great opportunity for our Board of Directors, Steering Committee Volunteers, Donors, residents and community members to celebrate the efforts that have gone into getting this project started.”
The UP Home announced their plans for the Expansion of Quality First Services in September 2015. The new addition on to the south hall of the current Health Center will be over 20,000 square feet and cost an estimated $6.2 Million Dollars. The first floor of the addition will house 17 private rooms and the lower level addition will have first-class wellness, fitness and therapy facilities which will include a warm water therapy pool and an indoor walking track.
“The ceremonial groundbreaking is our way to share the start of a new chapter in health care in Washington,” said CEO Mike Moore. “The United Presbyterian Home will celebrate 70 years of providing quality service in Washington in 2017. This addition will give us the ability to provide additional services to residents and members of the Washington Community through the new Wellness and Therapy space.”
