On April 26, the UP Home hosted a ribbon cutting in the Town Center space to officially commemorate a multi-part renovation which was recently completed.
Earlier this year the project was set into motion with a relocation of the Home Library to the Washington Room, located in the lower level of Brownlee Health Center. This move has given the library a much larger space with the ability to add multiple sitting areas. The Washington Room also acts as a campus meeting space.
The library’s new home left vacated space in Sherman Hall which the maintenance team used to enlarge the common area known as the Town Center as well as create an updated space for the resident laundry room. The laundry space is larger, brighter and more accessible for residents to do their personal laundry. The bigger Town Center space better accommodates UP Home residents who meet there daily for coffee, conversation, community & laughter.
This project was made possible in large part by donations of $42,000 from residents and their family members, including donations in memory of former residents Judy Driscoll and John Young.
